Overall Review 7.5 of 10
This is an old stand by in San Diego. Decent Sushi. Ridiculously low prices. The quality is a bit lower then I would like, but for $30 out the door with leftovers and two drinks, who’s complaining. They recently moved from shady downtown to trendy Hilllcrest (read Gay District), and got fabulous new digs. Very happy everytime we go. Just remember, the portions are quite large, you don’t need as much as you may think.
What We Had 7 of 10
Sushi of course. The usual: Raw fish, Miso soup, and edamame. They are always extra large rolls ere, probably because of the extra rice they put on. Always get an avocado roll.
Atmosphere 9 of 10
Great new location in Hillcrest, CA. Quite a lot larger, and very clean. The walls are all the same color too, instead of the haphazard ways of the past. It takes a little character away, but makes you feel a lot safer eating the food.
Others
Parking was not a problem in Hillcrest. Of course this was a Sunday night at 8:30, so there wasn’t a lot going on. The wait is the same, and getting seated takes a while, as always, even though there were a few open tables. Happy to go there again, and would recommend it to someone trying to learn about this style of food, because it is cheap, yet good.
