Overall Review 9.5 of 10
(But only because I can’t give a perfect 10)
I had dinner on the company here with some coworkers during the BIO 2006 conference. It is a fusion place that specializes in surprise, Japanese and Sushi. My overall experience was really outstanding with only one exception that I will discuss in Others.
What I Had 9.8 of 10
It’s really hard to tell. We had so much of everything. Actually my boss (kinda) told the waiter to bring whatever he wanted. That was a first for me, and it made our dinner very interesting. We had a bit of everything. Started with Tar Tar or something, a bunch of raw stuff. Some raw fish, actually some of the best raw fish I have had. It was served with the head and tail and skin. Kinda really weird, but actually really really good. Then we had some crab claws, served with little crabs the size of quarters that were deep fried whole, and you eat them in one little bite. Very interesting. Then, best of all, a bunch of kobe beef served raw with a extremely hot rock to cook it on. It was thinly sliced and marinated. You put the little piece on the rock and cook it. Very different. That was finished by a bunch of desert, which I heard was good, but I don’t really like desert.
Atmosphere 10 of 10
Amazing. It was a place to see and be seen. They have a patio over the river in Chicago’s North side. It really was just perfect, look at the website if you don’t believe me.
Others 8 of 10
The only thing really wrong about this place was the way we were served. Our waiter was very attentive, which was wonderful. . . BUT what was bad about it was his way of explaining the food. He told us all about it, and then he proceeded to tell us what was permissible in how we ate it. For example, “It is permissible to dip this fish in that sauce, but not in that one”. That was not permissible.
