Overall Review 8.5 of 10
Holiday House is a nice upscale little place in Milwaukee’s Third Ward . It is run by the grandson of the original Holiday House that drew the dinner theater crowds of the 40’s and 50’s. His idea was to open a similar high quality restaurant, but lose the entertainment – and to this point he did well.
What We Had 9 of 10
The food here is a “Contemporary World Cuisine”, and quite good. We shared a Holiday Blue salad, which I would recommend you get on your own it was so good. I had the seared tuna, which came in some of the hottest [spicy] sauces I have ever had, but was otherwise enjoyable – minus the overly marinated soba noodles. Cathy very much enjoyed the Triple Crepes, especially the artichoke fondue one. We skipped desert this night, but are confident it would have been good.

So when you think of the “Holiday House” what comes to mind? Tacky christmas lights? They should – because this place keeps theirs up all year long. At least they’re all white. Oddly, where we were sitting, in the back of the restaurant along the wall, is where the plug for the lights stuck out of the wall. I almost knocked it out a couple of times. The wait staff was quite attentive, especially to me – hmm, and knowledgeable. The jazz music was a perfect call back to the glory days of the house.

Something of note is that the nice finishing touches of the place extended into both of their restrooms with the availability of various products to freshen up. This really made us feel like they know that we care how our breath smells, our hair looks, etc for the remainder of the evening. Very classy – and well placed.
