Overall Review 6 of 10
I hate to even say it because I was just so excited about this new restaurant in the third ward, but although the food is quite good and the atmosphere is rustic-chic… overall, we were disappointed by the things that make this place not quite worth the money they ask for.

What We Had 9 of 10
Like it’s sister restaurant in Door County (whistling swan) the food here is a wonderful mix of flavors you won’t find anywhere else. The chef pulls it off very well, and it makes you want to just keep on eating. I had the Pork Chop and pumpkin soup and my lovely date had Japanese sea bass and mushroom soup. Their rosemary bread is perfect too. They have an excellent beer selection from their brewery in Green Bay (Hinterland – surprise!) and I recommend the pub draught highly. They also have a bar menu that has less expensive, and equally fun items on it… a good way to check the place out without spending a fortune.

Atmosphere 5 of 10
This is where my opinion of the place gets a little tricky. Although Hinterland is well decorated and provides a comfortable atmosphere, it is simply too casual for the $38 dollar entrees they are serving to people in suits. Here is what I mean… the servers are dressed like they are working in Abercrombie (i.e., sloppy). The sux chef is wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the strings hanging down over your food (kinda gross and tacky). The service matches the messiness of the staff… not very attentive. We both just felt like the place was serving people out of their range.

Others 5 of 10
As always, parking in the third ward can be tricky so be prepared to drop your date off at the front door.
