Overall Review 8.5 of 10
We had dinner here on Friday night, after literally months of talking about stopping in. I really enjoy Indian food, but Cathy is a bit inexperienced in this region so the decision to go was a bit delayed, but definitely worth while. “This is definitely some of the best ethnic food I have had in Milwaukee”, is a direct quote.
What We Had 9 of 10
Appetizer: Bhutrha – and eggplant and naan starter
Chicken Haribali – Chicken slow cooked in green spices and herbs served with basmati rice and cabbage
Kingfisher Beer – An Indian Pilsner that was not good at all, kind of tasted like apple juice or sparkling apple cider
Atmosphere 9 of 10
A wonderfully cozy little place, that you wouldn’t recognize as such from the outside. It was nicely decorated, and used a few trendy touches to set it apart from the typical crowd. A short, metal water jug was on the table with similar glasses which was nice for refills to sooth the spicy food. Candles and fresh flowers on each table really added to the ambiance as well. A wonderful date place, especially if you get one of the two coveted window seats. The servers were attentive and familiar enough with the food to explain what it was we were ordering in simple terms – for us non-Indian eaters. The only thing that was off was the tables themselves. They were just too plain for the decor. Typical for a diner.

Parking was a bit difficult since it is on the corner of two main roads without its own lot. We had to drive around the block to find a spot. The music they played was not Indian, or even Asian, it was more lounge / techno style. This was fine, but I was hoping for a little Ravi Shankar (in honor of his birthday).

Around here, any non-valet parking at all is an automatic 10.
