First Week at GE

I am nearing the end of my first week at GEHC now. Although I am very excited to be here, and am looking forward to what I will be doing, and who I will be working with… I have to say that this first week has just been way below my expectations.

It all started on my first day…

... I was supposed to arrive at 7:45 for my Welcome to GEHC Orientation. I waited until 8:15 without anyone coming to get me, so I called HR. When someone came out to get me, they asked who I was and why I was there… Turns out, they only hold this orientation every other week – and I was there on an off week. The rest of the day was similar: No Desk, No Phone, No Computer… oh, and by the way – No One Was Even There! So I had nothing to do.

It got a little better the next day. I now have a desk (which I had to empty out from someone else’s stuff and clean). I am at home right now… turns out they mailed my computer to my house: From the floor right below where I sit at the office! Ha. My boss told me to just wait at home until it shows up sometime this morning… Wow.
